Do your kids ever get in the way while you’re preparing dinner? It’s not uncommon. All great kids do it from time to time – they love learning from you in the kitchen. That’s why we’re here to help you handle it. Take a squiz at the list below for a few ideas.
SET THE MOOD
Children love music, that’s a fact! While you’re cooking up a storm, put on a few of their favourite songs and dance with them when you can. The happier your child is in the kitchen the more inclined they will be to spend time with you in there and learn about food.
THE BREAD PAN GUITAR
Wrap colourful elastic bands lengthways around your bread pan to make an impromptu guitar. Your kids can use it to strum away to any melody you put on and it will keep their fingers out of your ingredients.
Chopstick drumsticks are the easiest ‘kidstrument’ on the market! Make them more exciting to use by turning old coffee tins upside down and converting them into drums of all shapes and sizes for your young rock star to use. Who knows, maybe you have a superstar in your midst?
MOVERS & SHAKERS
Grab 2 or 3 empty plastic bottles and fill them up with rice for your little bundle of joy to shake away! They’ll add South African flair to your cooking routine, which you could pair with Peri-Peri Chicken and Imfino Pap that will make your shakers feel right at home.
